Akemi Buff Knifegrade THIXO 1000 ml (Polyester Filler)

AKEMI® Marmorkitt 1000 THIXO is a professional, two-component (2K) polyester filler and adhesive built for the stone-fabrication trade. Based on an unsaturated polyester resin with mineral fillers, its knife-grade, thixotropic (“THIXO” = non-sag) consistency is creamy-soft, so it spreads and holds on horizontal and vertical surfaces without running — ideal for filling larger holes and voids (such as in travertine) and for bonding and laminating natural and engineered stone. The buff shade blends into beige and light-toned stone, and once cured the filler sands, drills, mills, and polishes cleanly for an invisible repair.

Used in stone-working shops for filling and bonding:

  • Filling holes, pits, and voids in natural stone (e.g. travertine)
  • Bonding and laminating natural and engineered/artificial stone
  • Cementing large horizontal and — especially — vertical surfaces
  • Modeling and rebuilding corners and edges

Please note: adhesion and strength on fresh, alkaline building materials (e.g. concrete) is only moderate, and bonds frequently exposed to moisture and frost are not permanently resistant.

Professional use only.

  1. Make sure the substrate is clean, completely dry, and slightly roughened.
  2. If desired, tint with AKEMI® polyester colour pastes, colour concentrates, or Spectrum Pastes — up to a maximum of 5%; the filler may be thinned in any ratio with AKEMI® Marmorkitt 1000 Transparent extra-fluid.
  3. Add 1–4 g of white BPO cream hardener per 100 g of filler (1 g of hardener corresponds to about 4–5 g squeezed from the tube). Use less hardener when filling large holes or modeling corners and edges.
  4. Mix both components thoroughly. The mixture stays workable for approx. 3–10 minutes at 68°F (20°C).
  5. After a further 10–20 minutes, the treated parts can be sanded, drilled, milled, or transported. Keep adhesive layers as thin as possible — under 0.08 in (2 mm).
  6. Heat accelerates and cold delays hardening. Clean tools with AKEMI® Nitro-Dilution before the filler cures.
  • Keep the hardener dose in range: more than 4% reduces adhesion and can impair surface drying; less than 1% (or temperatures below 41°F / 5°C) considerably delays hardening.
  • Because of reaction shrinkage (approx. 2–3%) and noticeable heat build-up during curing, keep adhesive layers thin (under 0.08 in / 2 mm).
  • Bonds frequently exposed to moisture and frost are not permanently resistant.
  • Cured filler tends to yellow over time.
  • Cured filler cannot be removed with solvents — only mechanically or with high heat above 392°F (200°C).
  • When used correctly and once fully hardened, the product is not harmful to health.
