Alpha® Surface Protection Tape (BAB0650) — 6" x 164' Single-Sided Stone Protection Tape

Alpha® Surface Protection Tape (BAB0650) is a single-sided protective tape made from HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) cloth laminated with LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene). The 6"-wide, 164'-long roll covers a large stone area in a single pass and is engineered to shield finished stone surfaces from scratches, stains and etching during fabrication and installation. The tape is repositionable, waterproof, tears straight by hand, and can be written on with a ball point pen, permanent marker or china marker for fast layout. It removes cleanly within two weeks with no residue and is rated for temperatures from -40°F to +176°F (-40°C to +80°C). Alpha® recommends pairing it with the Beveling Auxiliary Base for edge-profiling work.

  1. Confirm the stone surface is clean and dry before application.
  2. Unroll the tape across the surface and press down by hand — no tools required.
  3. Tear the tape by hand at the desired length; the straight-tear backing produces a clean edge.
  4. Reposition as needed before final pressure-down — the adhesive tolerates repositioning while maintaining stability.
  5. Mark layout lines directly on the tape with a ball point pen, permanent marker or china marker.
  6. Use during cutting, edge profiling, polishing and transit; the tape is waterproof and tolerates wet work.
  7. Remove the tape within two weeks of application to ensure clean, residue-free removal.
  8. For edge-profiling work, pair the tape with the Alpha® Beveling Auxiliary Base.

What stones can I use this tape on?

All natural and engineered stone faces — granite, marble, limestone, quartz and similar materials. Always test on an inconspicuous area first if the surface is unusual.

Is the tape waterproof?

Yes. The HDPE/LDPE construction is fully waterproof, so the tape can be used on wet and dry jobs without lifting.

Can I write on it?

Yes — the tape is designed to accept ball point pen, permanent marker and china marker for layout work directly on the protected surface.

Will it leave residue?

No, provided you remove it within two weeks of application. Longer dwell times can risk residue, especially in heat.

How wide and how long is one roll?

Each BAB0650 roll is 6" (150 mm) wide and 164' (50 m) long.
