Introducing V/O-CUTTING: This new method of cutting serves as an alternative to V-GROOVING for creating thicker waterfall edges with minimal seams. This technique has been made possible by the introduction of two edge polishing machines, the LCV-M-V/O and the LCH-V/O, from Marmo Meccanica S.P.A., a well-known and high-quality stone fabrication machine manufacturer from Italy. Traditionally, V-GROOVING has been the only cutting method for lamination to make countertop edges appear thicker without stacking up strips, which creates multiple seams on the edge. These edge polishing machines feature two spindles, located at the beginning and the end of the machine, that execute both vertical and horizontal cuts. This creates a square profile strip, called an L-BORDER, which is ready to be glued to the slab as the edge. Successfully creating an L-BORDER strip, without breakage or chipping, requires a precision blade. Therefore, Alpha® has designed a specialty blade, called the Silencer VO, specifically for this unique cutting application. The Silencer VO blade, measuring 10 inches in diameter, features a laminated silent core and a 50mm arbor. Two bond types are available: one for popular granite/quartz surface applications, and another specifically for new sintered slabs such as Dekton®, Lapitec, and Neolith, among others. The Silencer VO blade for Dekton/Porcelain can also be used on various crystallized glass slabs widely available in the US market. The V/O-CUTTING system simplifies the lamination process, speeds it up, and creates an almost invisible seam.
